Disciplinary forces comprising the PNG Defence Forces, Royal PNG Police Constabulary and the Correctional Service officers have teamed up to ensure a safe and clean city throughout this APEC Leaders’ Week.

Disciplinary forces comprising the PNG Defence Forces, Royal PNG Police Constabulary and the Correctional Service officers have teamed up to ensure a safe and clean city throughout this APEC Leaders’ Week.

A total of 4000 troops will be collaborating with the Joint Security Task Force, two thirds out of the 700 police personnel involved in APEC are Port Moresby based while a third is from outside and are maintaining the usual business operations, said NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Perou N’Dranou.

Meantime, Lieutenant Newman Kooba, a platoon commander of the PNGDF at Taurama assured the public that they are confident in their training and that their aim is to provide security and support police during this hectic week.

They are stationed in 4 different locations, Jackson’s Airport, Erima Flyover, Waigani Boulevard and the Parliament house to ensure that there is crowed control at restricted hours.

Lieutenant Kooba and his 100 personnel have been in the city since Sunday to look after their area of operation which is at the flyover.

They will be leaving on Wednesday next week to resume normal duties.

So far the disciplinary forces are pleased with the behaviour of thee general public’s behaviour.
