International Media Center (IMC) ready for APEC Leaders Week

Close to 15 000 international delegates and world leaders will be in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea this week to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

The International Media Center (IMC) setup at the Taurama Aquatic Centre in Port Moresby.

Close to 15 000 international delegates and world leaders will be in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea this week to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

Amongst this huge group of people entering the capital city, there are also over 3000 media personnel and journalists who will cover the one-week summit.

The APEC Coordination Authority has successfully prepared to cater for media coverage providing the International Media Center (IMC).

The IMC is located at the Taurama Aquatic Centre and is the central point of information gathering for both international and local Media.

The interior set up of the IMC includes media booths, work stations and press conference rooms.

BLUE 7 TEAM is the contractor behind the interior set up of the IMC.

Special Projects Supervisor, M’brualokou Posman, said that the setup of the IMC can cater for more than 3000 media personnel.

He added that a total of 400 work stations were set up and about 100 media booths for international News agencies, broadcasting networks and other media organizations to hire and use during the APEC summit.

“Some international media organizations like the ABC have brought in their own satellites dishes to set up outside the IMC.’’

“Another News Agency has hired 10 media booths to use for their broadcast as well," Mr Posman said.

He also mentioned that 21 media booths are specially set up for the APEC member economies to use during the summit.
