Papua New Guinea is quite unique to the other economies around Asia that has wonderful material culture with great things to see but there is still more work on connecting up the country to the rest of the world.

Papua New Guinea is quite unique to the other economies around Asia that has wonderful material culture with great things to see but there is still more work on connecting up the country to the rest of the world.

This was stated by the Executive Director for APEC Dr. Allan Bollard during the regional trip to Kavieng.

“When I talk about connectivity is both concrete and data over the internet so that people can know what Papua New Guinea has, not only in Port Moresby but the outside Provinces as well”.

“We have a Papua New Guinea Bilum mobile app where people from wherever in the world can connect to the rural areas here in PNG to buy bilums”

“It is extremely important for this connectivity but it a big challenge with a low internet broadband in the country,” Dr Bollard said.

However, he believes that there is a solution to improving the broadband and the internet speed and if there is an app on Tourism, it will boost the Tourism industry in PNG.

Meanwhile he has really enjoyed himself and was so happy to experience the rich culture and the hospitality of the people of New Ireland Province.

“We only read about it on the geographic magazines but we have never seen it before in our lives. This is such an experience and a lot of us will come back again,” he added.
